   I bought this item after reading an online gummy candy recipe that suggested sorbitol is the “secret ingredient” to help give gummies that springy quality of store bought. Having now made multiple batches with and without use of sorbitol, I now have to agree it improves homemade gummy candy texture/quality. Bulk Supplements offered this item to me as a free sample following my first purchase of a full price item. I was so happy with product quality and customer service that I immediately bought my next bag of sorbitol from them.

   I am a soap maker and sorbitol is one of the most important ingredients for my organic glycerin base. The purity and clarity of the sorbitol used will directly effect the look, texture and overall quality of your finished product. After dissolving this down to a 70% solution it was light blueish green and very very clear that looks exactly like real water – what I needed so I’m very happy with the quality and price. The only improvement could be to grind the granules down more to a power to dissolve fast rather than slow.

   The powder isn’t as fine/clump-free as another brand I’ve used, but I can’t see that being an issue unless you were using it in a way where it would be consumed dry. Other than that I can’t think of any complaints. I’m not really an expert in confectionery so I can’t really vouch for its performance in baked goods (I use it in small amounts for its mild osmotic laxative effect in a low-carb diet).
