Stevia Extract In The Raw gets its delicious, natural sweetness from Rebiana (aka Reb-A) -- an extract from the Stevia plant. This extract is the sweetest part of the plant and has recently been isolated to provide pure sweetening power without the licorice-like aftertaste that many of our predecessors exhibited. All you get is the sweet flavor without any calories. Unlike some of our competitors, Stevia Extract In The Raw does not use additional sweeteners such as erythritol (Truvia ) and isomaltulose and erythritol (PureVia ) to mask the natural sweetness of Reb-A Stevia Extract. The high purity level of our product eliminates any of the licorice-like aftertaste associated with less pure Stevia products currently in the market. Stevia Ext

The thing that I like the most about this stevia product is the price. Oh, I also like the fact that it comes in bulk, which is probably why the price is so decent. There is a little bit of an after taste, but this is not too bad and you can actually get used to it pretty quickly. It does work well in all different types of drinks. The only down side to this for me is that I really don’t it coming in individual packets, makes me feel obligated to use a whole packet each time.

Instead, I found: Pure Stevia Powder (3.5 oz). I think that this has a lot of advantages. First, it gives you a much more concentrated formulation. This means that it takes much less of the stevia to actually sweeten your drinks or food. Since it does not come in individual packets, there is no obligation to use more than you need. Warning: this is very strong, so start out with just a bit at first and see how much (or little) you really need.

The main ingredient is SUGAR, September 8, 2013
This review is from: Stevia In The Raw Sweetener (Box of 1000 1g Packets) (Grocery)
It’s appalling that this is being marketed as a sugar alternative. Look at the ingredients list: Dextrose, Stevia Leaf Extract. Since dextrose is listed first, it means that it’s the major ingredient in this product.

And what is dextrose, exactly? It’s a form of glucose – and glucose is sugar.

If you want real “stevia in the raw”, buy the powdered leaf. It’s green, unrefined, and no – it doesn’t taste exactly like sugar – but at least it isn’t pretending to be something it isn’t.

    “Natural Sweetener”? Not really…, July 11, 2013

I picked up a box of this at the store. Its “in the raw”, right? That must mean in a pure form. Nope. I looked at the back of the box and it has dextrose added to the packets. In fact, there is more dextrose than stevia. Whats dextrose you ask? Sugar. Yup. Sorry if you were trying to avoid it.

Real stevia takes less than 1/8 of a tsp to sweeten your coffee. Yet there is maybe 1/4 to 1/2 a tsp of powder in these packets. Hmmm….

Working to get healthy? Stick to Kal Stevia. That’s the real deal.
